Apartment 69

Type: Apartments
Location: Kyiv, Ukraine
Year: 2020

The concept of apartment in the center of Kyiv, focused on short-term rent. We strived to create a certain experience for the resident and involve him in practices we created that are unusual for the space of permanent residence.
In the kitchen-living room, we did our best to combine the kitchen and recreation areas, different in their functional purpose, having designed the kitchen structure to the details, which does not get out of the general context in shape and finish. The dining area is represented by a round glass table.
The central element in the recreation area is a coffee table, surrounded by a soft group with a sofa and armchairs. At night, the table starts to glow, creating an atmosphere of gathering around the fire. With such a technique, we wanted to give comfort, like the ancient people who looked for protection and safety by the fire. A projector with a wide-angle lens hidden in a cabinet is used for movies co-viewing.
In the bedroom we decided to experiment and make the main lighting element a powerful dimmed RGB-light source hidden behind a diffuser that extends the cabinet's geometry. Thus, we got rid of ceiling lamps, keeping the plane of the ceiling clean. The transparent table accentuates the lightness and seems to dissolve in the reflection of the mirror in the wardrobe area, visually increasing the space.
In the sleeping area, we have designed a bed structure with bedside tables with built-in, barely noticeable lamps in the headboard. Two round mirrors placed on top of each other create the effect of an endless tunnel, creating a meditative effect in the sleeping area.
